Approach a visible trout or likely trout-holding location from downstream (down current); cast your fly-line upstream (up current), ahead of the point you wish the sunken wet-fly to reach, casting sufficient fly-line to allow the extra line needed for the wet-fly to sink to its target position.

Collect slack line in your hand as the current carries the fly-line back towards you; keep your rod tip raised high and tighten the line to hook your trout the moment you feel a trout-taking tremor transmitted through the fly-line from your wet-fly.
